Why NOT yo install Vista?
Vista-best selled operative system? Is it really so?
What others say about Vista
Why not install Vista?
Case No1:
One of my friends bought new powerful laptop (dual core, 1024mb ram
etc.) with, of course, Vista preinstalled.
So I went to her place to check out that laptop beast and there was -
Vista to spoil the first impression. It took more time to boot, then it
takes to my old box, which is about 6 years old and had Windows 2000.
Now I switched from Windows 2000 to a new version of Debian Lenny
and it works much better and faster then before. Whatever I have tried
to turn on, it asks a thousand stupid questions, like "Are you sure?",
"Are you absolutely sure?", "Are you sure that you are in mentaly good
health and not intoxicated so that you can make the right decisions?".
That already drove me mad and convinced me never to install Vista on
any of my boxes, even if I would get it for free.
I know that Micro$oft people would say they did it for our own
protection, so that none of malicious code could be activated by
itself. Realistically looking, there are two kinds of people: those who
knows what are they doing, and those who doesn't. Therefore, to those
who knows, such protections are insufficient, and for those who
doesn't, it is not of any use because they don't have a clue when to
press "Yes" or "No".
And so I'm checking out what's more to find in Vista. I start to
unzip some documents which I brought to her, but there it was - another
unpleasant surprise; as soon as I tried to open zipped document
explorer restarted itself. I went to reboot the laptop and try again,
but the same thing happened again. I tried the same thing with some
other documents too, but again, the same thing happened. As soon as I
touched zipped document with right or left mouse pad, explorer crushed.
Then I recalled existance of Dos
and I thank God for it! I've opened CMD and successfully delete all
zipped files. In fact, that isn't the real Dos, but let's say one part
of it which Micro$oft placed into all Windows versions. Dos is complete
and free OS. http://www.freedos.org/
Ask yourself how many average people knows what Dos is and how many of them knows how to work in it?
You see, not many of them...How would they delete those zipped files, if that happened to them?
Case No2: My friend who works as
University SysAdmin decided to install Vista on one of their computers,
to check out how it works and to get used to it. So he starts with
installing and when it came to type the serial number, Vista crushed
down. So much about Vista stability :-)
Case No3: There is a friend of mine
with whom I exchange Informatical knowledge, dream about perfect PC and
kind of computer we could get if we would live in a country which
actually pays for your labour and hires for your knowledge, and not on
the base of nepotism, or ass kissing.
So one day we went for a coffee and he opened his soul to me, telling me his sad story.
He got his salary (some lousy E490 for 300 working hours) and he
happily went to buy Vista Ultimate. You know, a person really needs to
love computers to be ready to give away half of his salary for OS.
And so he gets home ready to install Vista on his computer, on which he
already had Windows XPP. Since he has several partitions on his hard
disc, he decided to delete and replace XPP on partition c: with Vista.
Vista recognized all the partitions, but didn't want to accept
instalation on partition c:. He tried the other partitions too, but
nothing worked. Thanks to Vista, at the end he had to delete 6 years of
work, collected documents, photos, movies, music, etc.
Frustrated about what happened, he phoned Micro$oft support and told
them about his troubles, but the man on the other side replied to him
with words - that's how it goes with Vista.
Now we have to ask ourselves is Micro$oft really uncapable of creating
OS that recognizes partitions and allows instalation on partition of
our choice? Nope! And they have proved to be so by now. Then what is
the reason? Is Vista so special and profound to be installed on hard
disc with something else to share the space with? Why morons from
Micro$oft couldn't create propper OS, the way it is supposed to be and
the way it was build by now (at least in this aspect, because on some
other way it is a total crap) and if from some, to me unknown reason,
they couldn't, then why, at least, not to warn people about it?!
That is "the all mighty perfect" Vista, as Micro$oft claims "the
best" OS that ever. Yet, it is not capable of preforming the most
simple operation which can be done by any other OS or operating system
( all Unix, Linux, Mac OS versions and even all sorts of Windows,
except Vista) which can be installed on any partition and live happily
ever after with all the other OS, aplications or datas.
So now you see how much Micro$oft cares about his customers. The
only thing they ever cared about was money and nothing else, in
contrary to people who creates Linux and Unix which proved to be not
only better quality, but also they cost nothing and have opened code so
nobody keeps any secrets from you.
If you are interested in those OS, here are few examples: OpenSuse,
Debian,
PC-BSD.
These are just some of the cases I got to know about, but I'm sure
that with the time much more dangerous and worse things will be
revealed.
Are you admired by Vistas layout? Well, there is a catch - it is stolen from Apple and this video
confirms it! What is the conclusion in all of this? Every and each new
version of Windows is worse than the previous one and Vista is really
something that can be used only as glass coaster.
Top
Vista is the best seller OS, why?
Not because it is the best, but because it comes preinstalled on
every computer. So when you go to buy laptop or box, it is already
there! What those statistics doesn't show is that in the States you get
downgrade license with it, so automatically, it allows you to replace
Vista by installing XP. Also, they don't mention all those people who
replace Vista with some other OS themselves.
So Micro$oft statistics are false, just as their promises are.
